Plato's Idea on the Poet and Philosopher

Plato believes the poet is holy, and poetry itself is an “emotional transport and lack of self possession.” His idea on the philosopher is that they are the “very basis in divorce from reason.” Poets through their writing present a projection of human values centered on self interest, philosopher’s create opinions/philosophy to stabilize the world by creating form and unity.

The bed, carpenter, and poet--The poet writes about the bed, but he is taking his model from real life, and real life is taking its model from the world of forms.
